Expo 2025 Osaka in Yumeshima, Japan opened its doors to the world in April 2025. Themed ‘Designing Future Society for Our Lives’, it offered nations and companies an opportunity to show off their latest innovations at one of the globe’s highest-profile events. Among those nations was Vietnam, with a 300 sq. m. pavilion created with comprehensive design and construction services from Pico.
Experiencing Vietnam
An immersive peek at the Mekong River was the central feature of the pavilion, offering visitors an evocative impression of Vietnam’s agricultural landscapes and natural beauty. The pavilion also highlighted key provinces and the major cities of Hanoi, Hue and Ho Chi Minh City, complete with their tourist attractions and development potential.
Traditional art
Traditional Vietnamese art was infused throughout the pavilion, starting at the entrance where visitors were greeted by a hand-painted dragon mural. Inside, an art panel introduced visitors to the country’s 54 ethnic groups while an interactive digital scroll traced Vietnam’s history from ancient times. A dynamic tracking system enabled visitors to zoom in and explore each section of the scroll in detail.
Complementing the rich visual elements was a selection of authentic traditional instruments, costumes, boats and lanterns that demonstrated the country’s ingenuity, craftsmanship and charm. The pavilion’s bamboo curtains, handcrafted with traditional techniques, further aligned with the Expo’s sustainability goals while celebrating Vietnam’s artisanal heritage.
